Now that you are aware that your heating, ventilation and air conditioning system can impact efficiency and air quality, it is important to know how to properly replace your filter.

 First, be sure to completely turn your furnace off. This is crucial for your safety. 

When you install the filter, follow the specific instructions provided. In some instances, different colors indicate which direction you should place the filter. You want to make sure that you do not put the filter in backwards. If there are any gaps, you may have improperly installed the filter or purchased the incorrect size.
