Tips to cope with winter floods: Part 1



A warm day after heavy snowfall might be comfortable, but it can lead to flooding that can damage your home and belongings.

Before you end up with a basement that feels like a pond, look up at your home's gutters. Many winter floods result from clogged gutters that quickly overflow.

Even if your home's gutters work effectively, you'll need to ensure that they deposit water far away from your home's foundation. Extend your downspouts before a melt occurs. While it might be cold to work outside, you'll be rewarded with a dry home.
